ROCKFORD ATHLETICS I HOME OF THE RAMS

On Friday night the Rams faced Oak Park and River Forest, IL. This was a hard-fought game against a very good OPRF squad. The Rams ended up falling 1-0 but had some great chances to tie this game up but just couldn't get one past the goalkeeper. The next morning the Rams came out strong and ready to play. The Rams jumped out to a 3- 0 lead over Lake Forest Academy, IL. The Rams would finish this game with a 4-1 victory. Isabelle Schubert had 2 goals while Avery Maag and Carolina Hernandez each added a goal apiece. In the last game of the weekend, The Rams faced Michigan powerhouse, Saline, a team that beat us 8-0 in the quarterfinals last season. The Rams would strike first in the first quarter on an Isabelle Schubert goal. Saline would tie it in the second quarter and the game would be tied 1-1 at half. Both teams continued to play a very tight game until Saline sent a long hit into the Rams defensive circle which was deflected pasted the Rams goalie to put Saline up 2-1. The Rams continued to fight and had several opportunities to tie it back up but with 30 seconds left in the game Saline put the game away with their third goal. The defensive played an outstanding game with goalie Jordin Woods coming up with 15 saves for the game including a penalty stroke save that kept the game tied earlier in the first half.
