ROCKFORD ATHLETICS I HOME OF THE RAMS

The Rockford Rams varsity tennis team wrapped up its non-conference schedule with two quality victories over Forest Hills Eastern and Big Rapids, defeating FHE 5-3 and Big Rapids 7-2. Both opponents represented their respective divisions at the state finals, making them excellent tests for the Rams as they prepare for conference and regional tournament play. The Rams always look to sharpen their match play heading into tournament season, and these two dual meets provided exactly the competition they needed. Although Rockford was a little short-handed with several players sidelined by injuries, the Rams embraced their familiar “next man up” mentality, stepping into new roles and competing with confidence. Against Forest Hills Eastern, Broderik Gee earned an 8-5 victory at No. 2 singles, while Noah Clark dominated at No. 4 singles with an 8-0 shutout. Rockford's doubles lineup also delivered, with Brady Gauthier and Bridger Wildern winning 8-0, Seth Bearly and Stephen Chien taking an 8-4 victory, and Chase Dzibowicz and Wenji Lastfogel battling to a 9-7 win. The Rams carried that momentum into their matchup with Big Rapids, earning a convincing 7-2 victory. Gee and Clark continued their strong play in singles, while all five doubles teams came away victorious. Jayden Fudge and Ryan Stark led the way at No. 1 doubles with a 6-2, 6-2 win, and the Rams' doubles depth proved to be a major difference-maker. With two strong non-conference opponents behind them, the Rams have accomplished what they set out to do: gain valuable match experience, sharpen their competitive edge, and prepare for the challenges ahead. Now, the focus shifts to conference and regional tournament play, where every match matters and the Rams will look to put their preparation to the test.
