If you have been following OK Red tennis this season, you knew the conference tournament hosted by Rockford was going to be one for the ages. With nearly every team in contention across multiple flights, the championship was truly anyone’s tournament to win or lose. After the dual season, West Ottawa sat alone in first place, Rockford held second, and Hudsonville and Grand Haven were tied for third, with Grandville and East Kentwood rounding out the conference standings. The OK Red tournament is a different kind of battle. Every match matters, and one loss does not end your day. Teams must regroup, compete, and continue collecting points throughout the tournament. On a beautiful day for tennis, the Rams were ready to do battle against some of the best competition in the conference. Rockford delivered a strong performance, capturing two conference flight championships. Broderik Gee claimed the title at No. 2 singles, continuing his outstanding play throughout the season. At No. 5 doubles, Julian Scott and Ethan Lund also rose to the occasion, battling their way to a conference championship and giving the Rams two flights to celebrate. The Rams added three more finalists to their impressive day. Noah Clark reached the finals at No. 4 singles, while Jayden Fudge and Ryan Stark advanced to the championship match at No. 1 doubles. Wenji Lastfogel and Chase Dzibowicz also fought their way into the finals at No. 4 doubles. Across the remaining flights, the Rams battled hard, fought through challenging matchups, and continued to compete for every available point, even when the results did not go their way. When the final points were tallied, West Ottawa secured the overall OK Red championship with 12 points, while Rockford finished a strong second with 10 points. Hudsonville and Grand Haven tied for third with 6.5 points each, followed by Grandville with 5 and East Kentwood with 2. The final standings reflected the importance of the entire season, combining dual-meet results with tournament performance. Rockford's 4-1 dual record earned the Rams five points, and their five tournament points secured second place overall in the conference. While the Rams would have loved to bring the overall championship home, finishing second in a conference this competitive is an accomplishment worth recognizing. Two flight champions, three additional finalists, and a full day of hard-fought tennis demonstrated the depth and determination of this group. The Rams now turn their attention toward regional tournament play. The conference championship provided one more opportunity to sharpen their games, compete under pressure, and prepare for the postseason. The goal remains the same: keep fighting, trust the work, and make every match count when the stakes are highest.
