The Varsity Field Hockey team, playing in its first game in nearly two weeks, found it difficult to score against a tough Pinckney goalie. The Rams carried the play the first half and had some really good scoring opportunities, but the Pirates goalie was up for the challenge. The Ram's defense was also up for the challenge not allowing the Pirates any good scoring opportunities. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie. The 3rd quarter started off good but again the Rams were unable to notch their first goal of the game. Then with 4:29 to go in the 3rd quarter, on a penalty corner, Maddie Rock hit a hard shot toward the goal, the Pirates goalie was able to get a leg on it but it deflected into the air where Isabelle Schubert hit the ball out of the air and into the goal to put the Rams up 1-0. This was the momentum the Rams needed, and they came out strong in the 4th quarter. This time Maddie Rock was able to get the ball past the goalkeeper to put the Rams up 2-0 with about 4 minutes left in the game. Then less than a minute later Alex Roller sent a nice hit toward the goal which beat the goalie to put the Rams up for good 3-0. The Rams move onto the Regional Semifinal against Hudsonville on Thursday night at the HARV.
